Tool 7

The possibilities for a collaborative project are immense and so exciting!  I'd love to be involved in a music project across the world such as "Peace Through Music" that I found on media.learn.  I think I'll begin on a smaller scale and search out another music teacher in the district who will be teaching keyboarding.
(i.e. piano)

Content objective
Perform a piano piece in front of an audience.

When you plan to implement:
4th grading period

What tool(s) you plan to use:
iMac
iPod
Netbook
flip cameras
Skype

A brief description of the project:
.share a keyboard (piano) recital with another, same grade level, music class in the district
.2-3 peer selected students will perform
. offer a cultural awareness blend by inviting Woodview Elementary to participate

Is it possible to have the kids perform for their parents via Skype?  My mind is beginning to take off!

  1. Oh WOW....I'm excited...I see where you are going...too bad you weren't at RCE about 10 years ago...I had a class set of keyboards...when we rebuilt the school...we had to get rid of...they were just in storage!
I love the idea of sharing a recital...The BIG macs in the library can be moved into the KIVA easily to do a skype!

  2. I don't think there is anything in board policy that would keep you from Skyping with parents. I haven't found anything! You can use the MacBook you're getting and a projector and just Skype from your classroom!

  3. i just posted this on your neighbor's (emily) blog and would love your thoughts, too!
hi, i'm barb from Stratford Orchestra, i just had a great idea and am sharing with everyone i can! i am on this tool (#7), and was searching the district for other high schools to try to get some other orchestras together. and when i saw all the other schools, i realize that this could be a great tool for our vertical teaming! like the orchestra could 'skype' with one of your classes - listen to live music and ask questions about string instruments, etc. this could be a really great connector and encourage kids to continue music after elementary school! maybe it's just me, but i'm trying to find a good niche for these tools in the performing arts world. let me know what you think!
